Our Little First-Grader

Back to School

Monday was our little sweetheart's first day of first grade.  She was so excited to see all her school friends and hang out on the big kid playground.  She had a great first day and couldn't wait to go back for more.

All set to go with new gear.

Beaming with excitement.

In the sea of kids Amaya managed to find one of her besties, Delaney, right away.

Shortly there after, she found another bestie, Kyliegh.

Girlfriends are the best!  Wish I was able to get a picture of Amaya with her "sisters" (Riley and Ilayda), too!

It is our tradition to greet Amaya with flowers after her first day back at school.  This year she requested pink, red, and purple roses.  I managed to come through with pink and red roses, and purple daisies.

Another Milestone: Tooth Fairy Time

Amaya lost her first tooth this morning.  Courtesy of mom, but still.  It has been loose for awhile now.  This morning she woke up and came and showed me that it could bend out horizontally.  Finally, loose enough to come out.  I tied some dental floss around said tooth, and a quick tug later we were doing the customary pictures.  Yes, this just happened today, June 12th.  Yes, we know it is not football season.  I had PT this morning and one of my physical therapists is a huge Green Bay fan.  Amaya wanted to wear her Packer earrings and cheerleading outfit for him.  They enjoy doing Clay Matthews and Aaron Rodgers impressions together.

Pretty smile still, missing tooth and all.

Her "new" tooth was already coming up behind her baby tooth.  So it is well on it's way already.

Showing off her new look.

If you look closely you can see that Amaya is holding her lost tooth dangling from the dental floss.

Checking out her tooth.  She is quite excited for the Tooth Fairy to come.

Our friend, the Chernetid, wanted to be a part of the celebration this morning.  We noticed him in Amaya's sink as we were taking pictures.  Cute little bugger, huh?

Kindergarten Graduation

Our Beautiful Kindergarten Graduate
The program opened up with a wonderful, touching slide show.

Principal Weyenberg Spoke

In come the approximately 150 graduates.

Glowing with pride.  Love seeing her so happy.

Amaya's class is the 24 students on the left side of the risers on the stage.

Program time.  All the kids put on a fabulous show.  Sweet.  Cute.  Funny.  Touching.

So glad I went early enough that I was able to save seats in the first row.  We were able to shoot a great video of the program.

Certificate time.  It's official.

Amaya and her two best friends, or "sissies" as they call each other.  If you introduce them as friends they correct you and say they are sisters.

Amaya and Miss George, the best Kindergarten teacher ever.

Retro-Blogging: Part 2- Easter

We were blessed to be able to celebrate Easter this year with all four grandparents, and Scott's brother and his family.  We had a wonderful long weekend full of fun activities, including lots of golf and pool-time of course.  Easter Sunday was very special.  We kicked it off at church bright and early (7am service).  Then we partook in a wonderful Easter egg hunt and festival (which included a petting zoo.  After that we enjoyed a wonderful Easter brunch.  The best we have ever had.  Finally we finished the day off poolside.  It was a wonderful Easter weekend!

Retro-Blogging: Part 1- Grandparents Brunch

I am starting a series of retro-blogposts.  Blogging was put on the back burner during the holidays like it ususally is.  I was planning to get back to blogging the week before our ski trip, but extra hours both at work and volunteering at Amaya's school made me decide blogging could wait until we returned from Telluride.  Well, one crushed tibial-plateau and 3 and 1/2 months later here I am.  Better late than never.

GRANDPARENTS BRUNCH
March 1, 2013

Amaya was blessed to have all four of her grandparents take her to her Grandparents Brunch at school this year.  It was a special experience.  It was also pajama and slipper day at school that day, which added to the fun.  And no, Copper did not get to go along.
